Last Call – Pizzostella SkyMarathon
Trofeo Kima: once again this year, the 300 available race bibs have sold out (100 had been allocated to finishers of the qualifying race, the Grigne Skymarathon), with athletes from 35 nations (the percentage of women has risen to 23%) and a waiting list of 2,000 hopefuls. In light of the numerous requests flooding the organizing committee’s secretariat, and with the aim of supporting events that propose the original spirit of skyrunning revisited in a modern key, Ilde Marchetti has decided to make an additional 50 race bibs available to finishers of the Pizzostella Skymarathon.
The format will once again be the click day: on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m., the first 50 athletes to officially complete their registration among those who have finished the Italian Fisky Championship’s single race on the Marathon distance will automatically secure a spot at the start of the legendary Kima. The proving ground will be the beautiful course in the Alta Valle Spluga (SO), tested and approved in 2024: 42 km with 3,600 meters of positive elevation gain which, after Pizzo Sommavalle, the passage at Alpe Angeloga and Passo dei Camini, climbs up to the highest point at 2,948 meters on Pizzo Groppera, followed by its extremely technical descent towards Campodolcino; an authentic, demanding and technical race, worthy of awarding the Italian specialty title.
For those who have always dreamed of being at the start of the legendary race along the Sentiero Roma (52 kilometers with 8,400 meters of total elevation gain), the Pizzostella Skymarathon will truly be the last chance. It is therefore best to start training and focus on the goal. If you have not yet managed to secure a race bib for the Trofeo Kima scheduled for Saturday, August 22, have no doubts or hesitation: click https://www.pizzostellaskyrunning.it/skymarathon/, register, and try to make your dream come true.
We conclude by reminding anyone who may be interested that registrations for the “younger sisters” of the Valmasino ultra-alpine race (Kima Extreme Skyrace, Kima Trail and MiniKima) will open on May 1.
