Kima Trophy 2024

Val Masino, Sondrio, Italy – August 24-25, 2024

For over 20 years the Kima Trophy has represented a landmark event for skyrunners thanks to the challenging highly technical 52 km course over seven passes counting a massive 4,200m vertical climb. Moraine, snowfields and exposed crests feature largely on the course, with fixed ropes for safety at key points.

The 2024 edition will be on Saturday, with Sunday as an option in case of bad weather, and will be once again part of the Skyrunner® World Series.

A biennial race since 2008, the 2018 edition was won by Catalan Kilian Jornet, who crushed Nepali Bhim Gurung‘s record. Hillary Gerardi won the women’s race. The records to beat are 6h09’19” set in 2018 and 7h36’21” by Nuria Picas in 2012.

The race promises as always to host the best field ever with some of the world’s top runners competing.

For safety reasons, entry is capped at 300 participants. Organiser Ilde Marchetti comments: “Just 300 lucky competitors can take part in this biennial race because, while the race philosophy, distance and course features embrace the skyrunning spirit, the severity of the terrain and the strict Italian law limit the number of runners to ensure a safe and well organised race everybody can enjoy.

The race has taken on iconic status and is described by skyrunning star Kilian Jornet, four times winner here, as “the most spectacular race in the world.
